BusDos : Jim, nice of you to find time in your busy schedule to
come and talk with us.

JW: You’re right there Mr Editor type person, it is a busy schedule.
Mind you a lot of that is down to my operating methods but that’s
“off the record” as we say on the South Island !

BD : So Jim, this meteoric rise to the exalted position of Stage
Manager, to what do you attribute this ?

JW : Well, I’ve given this a lot of thought recently; literally torn
my hair out metaphorically, and I’ve come to the conclusion that
the secret of my success is my head torch.

BD : Your head torch ?

JW : Yes, my head torch. It adds that certain gravitas that makes
people respect you, you know people notice you when you’ve got a
white LED in the middle of your forehead. Quite honestly I don’t
know how I ever managed without one ! You can be in the middle
of a dark arena but you know that 8000 eyes are on you ! That
would mean 4000 people ( unless of course there was a high ratio
of one-eyed people which would make the numbers go up even
higher ).

BD : And this head torch of yours, is it a special one ?

JW : Well it’s funny you should ask me that. I actually bought this
one in 1987, of course that was before the ….. (cont page 94)
